On the border between the Southern Alps and Provence<\/strong>, at the foot of the Vercors, the Dr\u00f4me Valley<\/a>, Europe’s last wild torrential river with a particularly rich flora and fauna, stretches all the way to the sunny plains of the Rh\u00f4ne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the heart of this valley, between Crest and Die, camping au pays de Saillans<\/a> is an ideal place<\/strong> for nature lovers and outdoor enthusiasts. Perched villages, Romanesque churches, castles and Roman remains make up the region’s rich cultural<\/strong> and historical<\/strong> heritage<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Canoeing or canyoning down the Dr\u00f4me river or its tributaries, rock-climbing in the Sao\u00fb or Vercors forests, flying over varied landscapes in a hot-air balloon, glider or paraglider, climbing in the trees and, of course, hiking, cycling, mountain biking, horse-riding, donkey-riding: all these choices are available to amateur or experienced sportsmen<\/strong> and women.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can also stroll through the vineyards<\/strong>, stop off at a winery for a glass of Clairette or Cr\u00e9mant de Die, chat with the winemaker, or pick up local produce and gastronomic delights, such as Picodon (a small goat’s cheese), olive oil, ravioles, “craquants” or orchard fruit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

On the lavender roads<\/strong>, you’ll discover the unique landscapes of Provence’s immense lavender fields, veritable oceans of fragrance swaying in the breeze.Along the ancient Roman road, the picturesque streets of Saillans<\/strong>, where gold was spun when the village made its living from silk, will take you on a journey back in time. You’ll love its lively center, summer market, Romanesque church, bridge over the Dr\u00f4me river, arcades and fountains.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n\n\n\n

The most beautiful markets in the Dr\u00f4me<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The \n Dr\u00f4me valley<\/a>\n<\/strong> is home to many quality markets<\/strong>. One of the most popular is the Saillans market, held every Sunday morning. It’s a 20-minute walk from the campsite. Our local producers <\/strong>offer fresh, seasonal produce from traditional, sustainable and organic farming. To be enjoyed without moderation…<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Valley produces fruit <\/strong>: apricots, apples, cherries and peaches, as well as all kinds of vegetables, aromatic plants and essential oils. And let’s not forget the vines that produce Clairette de Die, Cr\u00e9mant, Chatillon en Diois in the east and Br\u00e9z\u00e8me, the smallest AOC C\u00f4tes du Rh\u00f4ne vineyard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
